" i have to make things, and they have to come from my imagination"
ever since i was a child experimenting with a handful of m&m's®, i have been fascinated with the expressive power of color. creating jewelry has become my favorite way of using that power to express my responses to and impressions of inspirational sources--places, people, cultures, events, works of art, and so on. making jewelry also affords me the opportunity to exercise my imagination freely and to productively give life to all of the multitudes i contain. in my jewelry-making world, there are no rules or formulae that must be followed, no expectations to be met. my heart, my mind, and my eyes are my only guides. i love exploring the unexpected, and i feel a mischievous delight in experimenting with the juxtaposition of incongruous elements or in adding a touch of surprise.
i create my jewelry with the hope that the wearer will have a personal emotional response to and connection with the pieces, even if very different from my own. i want the images and their titles to provoke thought, amusement, curiosity . . . or to challenge assumptions.
all of my work originates in my own head and heart and is made by my own hands, with assistance from Louis, my partner in life and one of my partners in Jackalope Jewels LLC®.
our jewels are one-of-a-kind--we do not reproduce any pieces or designs--our own or anyone else's. we do not do custom orders.
if handled with the respect that any hand-wrought work deserves, our jewelry will be your family heirloom for generations (see our warranty).
